No matter you are already a CEO, millionaire or just a small clerk or secretary that look forward to join a better company. There is always another level for us to grow, as one of my coach, T. Harv Eker said, “If you are not growing, you are dying”.
There is so much for us to learn and stay young. As long as there is a day leave for us to breathe and live, there is always something beautiful to learn if you are open to it.
Thus the beginning of the year is always the best period of time for us to prepare ourselves.
Before we start the process of transformation, I would like you to open yourself for this little work which might change your life and make your dreams come true regardless how challenging the economy out there.
You might take this chance to set your image goals that you intend to achieve the end of this year.
1. Let go of the past
A lot of people might set their goals like “losing 10kg”, “slim down to supermodel kind of feature”, “finding a cute, caring and wealthy boy friend”, “have more 00 in bank account”. “pay off my credit cards” ….the list go on and guess what nothing much happen at the end of the year.
What are the reasons of that? are they too ambitious goals or you are not focus at all.
First of all, you have to let go of the past. It’s like some clients of mine has a wardrobe that they never revamped in 10 or 20 years.
All the clothes which are out fashion mix up with the current one. Thus she always confused and not sure what to wear though there is a whole wardrobe of clothes.
Because your closet is your wardrobe’s home, it’s Chi, Chinese word for life-
According to Evana Maggiore, president of Fashion Feng Shui International, the health of your closet, which is determined by the quality its contents, is reflected in your own well being.
When your closet is filled with efficiently arranged, well cared for garments that you love, need and wear all the time, your every clothes encounter fuels you with positive energy, empowering your existence.
However, if the condition of your closet is overwhelming, frustrating or depressing, you can expect the same kind of negativity to manifest around you.
Negative energy depletes you, reducing your inner and outer magnificence and undermining your potential to move forward. Once a person clothes change, you can instantly feel your state change.
Thus cleaning up your wardrobe and let go of the clothes that are not the right energy colour and style can certainly help you of changes.
This always happen to my clients and they feel so much better about themselves and be able to achieve far more that they have ever dreamed of.
Once physical state change, your emotional and mental state will change. This is the power of image, the power of dressing up.
For example I have my bob hair for almost 3 years and lately I decided to have a change to perm my hair before keeping it long. It was a hesitating decision as I was fear of myself in curly hair.
I thought I might look older, more mature and bla bla bla. No matter what I decided to try and the result is every man on the street seems to be peeping at me whenever I walked past the second day. It's definitely sexy and powerful, never try never know!
Tips1: Revamp your wardrobe, pc files, cabinet, do a thorough cleaning, let go of the past and the negative energy. For the wardrobe revamp and checklist, you can refer to my book, “The Power of Charm” which share the steps of sorting out colour, style, bodyline and a list of what a women should have.
Tips 2: If you can’t give away the things, you can do a fire ceremony to burn them away. This process turn out to be sacred as I tried to make a little release exercise during the burning and let the fire took away your past.
If you need to do a simple releasing, just take a deep breath, say this “ I am releasing my past and all the habits that keep me from moving..., I am organized and positive with high energy now, so be it” (For reference, you can read the book of “ You Can Heal Your Life ”by Louis L. Hay)
2. Analyzing What’s Holding You Back?
Lots of people set a lot of goals but never be able to accomplish at the end of the year. What are the problems? Until lately I discovered perhaps there is something which hold us back? Luckily I would like to share an exercise which can walk you through your road bloacks and blast through them.
First of all, please relook back the goals that you intend to achieve but is still hanging around the air or bury inside your heart as you have started to lose faith or your self esteem. For example you don’t feel confident at presentation, you can’t lose the extra pounds, you don’t like public speaking, you feel uncomfortable to socialize, you haven’t met your MR. Right……the list go on.
Secondly, acknowledge your part in the problem. Ask yourself: What am I doing(or not doing) to undermine my progress? Write this down honestly.
For example. I have problems of balancing my life with the activities that I love such as learning salsa, going for yoga classes, taking my advanced diving license.
I tried to analyze and finally discovered I didn’t plan my time properly and I didn’t give any priority to those activities at all.
That’s why they didn’t turn out at the end of the year. As a saying,” You CHOOSE TO but not HAVE TO”. It was me who choose not to take action into and part of it is my bad time management.
Thirdly, discover your competing commitments. Ask yourself: What fears come up when I think of pursue my goals? For instance, when I am thinking of going for diving, I have the fear of getting tan and sub burn which will take ages to get back to my honey tan skin colour.
You see, this is my believe which keep me from pursuing my goals. Once I identify. Then I can take the final step which is Identify Your Underlying Assumptions.
Just look into the secret fears you wrote down just now. (e.g. If I want to change my image, I must spend huge sum of money, my friend might not like me, my husband might not want me to spend, I think I am too old to change……”
Then, write ways that you can test whether your beliefs are true, starting with smaller experiments (just one simple and affordable one” such as buying a book to learn about your image, attending image seminar which will help you understand more before you move on)
3. Prioritize Your Goals
Once you are clearer what stop you from changes, then you would know what is the action plan that you can take. For example me myself, I know that I have to make a priority list on my time table by setting a “ROCK” on my calendar.
Both me and my partner call it “Set a rock” time strategy. Once you set a rock on that date, you must do it no matter what comes up unless it’s so urgent that you have to move your rock.
I would recommend that you set a rock every week for yourself to be distress and pamper besides spending time with your love one or your job.
On that time period, you can’t set any appointment with your clients or do any other activities as it’s you who choose to commit to your priorities in order to achieve your goals.
This will certainly help you to focus and commit and once you are able to do it,
you will boost up your self-
If you want to feel good about yourself at the end of 2010, you better start this “ROCK” strategy for your time management before you get swim away by others commitment or distraction.
Tips: “A rock a day, make your dream come true” and don’t listen to your phones when you are focus on your action as it will distract you away, this is certainly true when I am writing.
4.Visualizing a Role Model
Lots of people telling me they don’t know how they can enhance their image as they don’t have any skills in visualizing how beautiful and successful they can be.
I understand that some people can’t see things in mind thus I always as my students to take a role model to visualize.
Who is the successful person that you look up to because of his or her’s achievement, vision or value? You must see beyond the glamour but what is the value that person carries, their attitude, their motto for success.
Try to find a photo of that person who might be celebrity, politician or not even a public figure and paste it on your dream board. If you start to walk, talk, think like that person, you will gradually has her or his type of mindset and posture.
Successful person always have very strong positive mindset and a trustworthy image. Modeling them is the fastest way to transform, this is a process that work and till now I till keep my role models Audrey Hepburn and Oprah Winfrey in my dream board. What about yours?
Tips: “Visualization is the power to your success image”. Pick up a role model and paste their picture for visualization. There is a very powerful visualization exercise that we practice during Brand New You. Lots of students find it helpful and effective for them to change and get use to their new image!
Today I would like to share the secret spell of making a NEW YOU, would you be interested to know? I guess almost everybody always has an urge to be a better person...
